The ultimative free ATM withdrawal list for travelling (by country)

You don’t need it usually, all city services accepted payment cards so far. However, so far I’ve encountered two problems. The first one was while going for a hike and the parking did not have any parking meter but it had a sign saying you have to “Vipps” 50 NOK to a specific account and add your plate number as a message and this is normal from what I’ve gathered from the locals. Unfortunately, you can not get Vipps without having a Norwegian personal number. Fortunately I had some cash and we managed to find a person willing to pay it for us. The other problem occurred when I was trying to buy second hand items on finn.no where people usually just Vipps each other but I had to pay in cash. I will share any new findings for future Norway expats as I am staying for my Erasmus until December.

August 2023:

In Botswana, I beleive all ATM don’t charge fees, but I can confirm FNB, Standard Chartered, Bank of Baroda and Access (refused metal MC but accepted Visa). I recommend Bank of Baroda because of higher limit (BWP 4000), but the most common is FNB with BWP 2500 limit per withdraw.

Also you should review Austria, I get charged in Raiffeisen, Erst Bank and Unicredit, so far in Austria I can only withdraw in the ATMs in Spar (don’t know to who they belong).

Hello I made a review of Turkish bank in Istanbul with MC and Visa (exactly the same each time):
KuveytTürk: OK
Halkbank : OK
Akbank: 6.5%
Türkiye bankasi: 7%
Debizbank: 7%
Garanti BBVA: 8%
TEB: 8%
Yapikredi: no foreign card
Qnb: no foreign card
AlBaraka: No foreign card

For the “No foreign card” this is only that an error occurred (not working foreign card in turkey is common.

Hi Team free withdrawals!!
This weekend I was in Belgrade, Serbia. Addiko bank was charging a fee of 190 RSD, so they can be removed from the list.

Hello everyone! I will be visiting Albania in a couple of weeks. Does anyone know the best way to get some cash? Exchanging Euros in a particular booth? Withdrawing a large sum from a particular ATM? Which bank seems to apply the lowest fee as of now?
