Currently when I send money through Revolut (which is becoming more and more as I have transferred a lot to Revolut) I get an e-mail confirmation that I have sent €xxx to recipient XX. It is very annoying as my mailbox get quite full with those mails after I pay several monthly things.
According to Support it is not possible to remove this so here my idea:
Can Revolut improve this by only giving an app notification that your money has been sent and that the payment confirmation is available in the transaction itself (if you need to get a confirmation for some reason)?
This would save a lot of mails and make it easier to retrieve all your data as it is likely that you will search in The Revolut app for info and not your e-mail.
It is annoying but I guess it’s another layer of fraud prevention to protect customers in the example a device is stolen or lost, there would still be a a way to see if any funds were sent out.
I’m with @Carl_1460 - better to know than not to know. It only takes a simple action to delete the email so I don’t really understand your concern. If there are many emails in a single tranche, highlight them all and delete in one press
The security of your account is always the primary concern.
IMHO, these emails make us keep track of the transactions carried out in our account.
You can always delete these emails. It is better to be safe than sorry.
Thanks for sharing your opinions about the matter!
However I disagree partially on this as I agree it has a extra security layer but in the meantime the other fintech banks (A Bunq, N26, Vivid) have also a great security layers and don’t use these mails to inform the user.
Just to be clear I am not against these mails but it would be much better and convenient to give users the choice whether they want only an in app notification or app + mails. With the latest developments in the security and AI I would rely on Revolut to flag transactions that are maybe fraudulent and contact the user immediately.
And the longer you are a customer of Revolut the better the bank will understand your patterns regarding transactions you make and be identify payments which are ‘weird’ for the user.
Just because other fintechs use different methodologies doesn’t mean to say their approach is more correct than that by
Letting AI take over the management of your preferences is not a good idea either imo. You should always be cognisant of what is happening in your account and to your money and just accepting that the fintech or bank will advise you when something seems “weird” is not the way to go except for it to end in tears.
A multi-millionaire once shared with me his secret to maintaining wealth - never let other people manage your money - that advice has served me well (although sadly I’m not a millionaire but neither do I have any debt )
Letting the user decide comes with a problem: it reduces Revolut’s options to inform you about transactions after your account was taken over (phishing or stolen phone). Device binding might be disrupted when an account was taken over.
My guess is that Revolut based its decision to send this via email on internal data about fraud. Notifications only work if this method isn’t compromised. It’s not a bad idea to use independent communication channels.
Our main motto is to give you a secure and smooth payment experience. I can understand sometimes these emails can be annoying as you need to delete all these in order to manage your mailbox. But trust me, I also do the same. It’s better to be secure than being sorry after an unpleasant incident.
I used to pay that when show me confirmation are no longer pop-up anymore, is there to enable this issue solution? I’d like to keep this for against fraud.
My suggestion is a filter on incoming emails with automatic archive option, if emails are not useful for you. This emails won’t trigger notifications on your phone and won’t bug you in inbox as unread.
I do that for other platforms and having emails is a digital trace which can be useful.
I could help in PM.
