Revolut EC/Maestro card please

#1

Having travelled round Germany the past two weeks it’s been very frustrating to find many places, including petrol stations, accept only cash and EC cards (same as maestro I believe)

I understand my bank HSBC could issue me with one, but tbh I like revolut too much

Interesting. Saying that, I’m not fully sure maestro is same as ec. They have in the past been bundled together…

EC is a now basically defunct brand, now owned by MasterCard, but shops might not have updated the signs. The national payment system is called Girocard. It’s often co-badged with Maestro but neither identical nor compatible with Maestro. It is a completely different network.

So, returning to my original question, do Revolut offer a girobank card?

No. It‘s a local scheme only some german banks support. Revolut and even many german FinTechs don‘t support it anymore.
