I’m getting inconsistent exchange rates depending on the amount of the payment.
Bad:
- HUF 2442 charged S$12.80 (debit card payment at store.)
- vs. mid-market rate value of S$12.69 (Google.)
- i.e.: lost 1.01%
- HUF 2000 charged S$10.45 (debit card payment online.)
- vs. mid-market rate value of S$10.33 (Google.)
- i.e.: lost 1.01% also.
Good:
- HUF 125,000 charged S$651.66 (bank transfer to a third party.)
- vs. mid-market rate value of S$651.67 (Google.)
- i.e.: on or better than the mid-market value.
- HUF 5,000 charged S$25.91 (debit card payment online.)
- vs. mid-market rate value of S$25.93 (Google.)
- i.e.: on or better than the mid-market value.
What explains the inconsistency?
Is it the amount of the payments? If so, should I maintain a balance in HUF and make a bigger transfer from SGD to HUF?
