CGD Portugal VISA Credit card top-up was recognised as a cash advance

I my VISA credit card from CGD - Caixa Geral de Depósitos (from PORTUGAL issued within the European Economic Area) is recognised as a cash advance when I when I TOP-UP. I contacted the bank and they say that revolut is the one that must solve this situation. They only receive a code/ identifier from Revolut that identifies the topup/operation as a cash advance.
I know other people that Top Up Revolut with the same credit card type from this bank and didnt had this extra charges.
This is personal Visa Card (not business since business charges other fees).
Revolut must solve this when you claim this: “Please note, credit card top-ups will be recognised as a normal card transaction, not a cash advance.”
Revolut should either assume responsibility when cash advance fees are charged or remove that statement from their website as it’s clearly not true.

Have look here

Some providers do treat it as a cash advance

Yet the Revolut help centre Topping Up text is pretty clear on this:

“Please note, credit card top-ups will be recognised as a normal card transaction, not a cash advance.”

Yea - that needs changing

@anon33247966

Yup. And Felipe needs to have his charges reimbursed by Revolut.

I wonder what other assertions that we newbies are relying on are wrong?

In that case (topup using credit card) Citi Poland will always treat topup Revolut account using credit card as a paid, because of Revolut’s MCC- 4829

Please remember that this is bank’s fee, NOT Revolut’s…

Nevertheless, there the Revolut assurance is, unequivocally.

Regarding their fees, they - logically - cant give guarantees for third party fees

I agree with alessandro.
Nevertheless the statement in the help section relating to this needs changing ASAP

Yet there it is - an unequivocal statement from Revolut.

Reclamei junto do provedor do cliente. So assim funcionou !

Hi. Revolut is using a “financial institution” code for transactions. I think due to legal reasons can’t use another code.
This is 6012.
60XX are for all kind of financial institutions, 6011/10 I think are for institutions which processes cash advance.

Some banks take all 60XX group as probable cash advance

Revolut uses 6012 which in a normal case shouldn’t make any problem as is not for cash advance. Sadly, some banks takes all 60XX group together…

With a credit card you get no fees? I ask because the issue here is with credit cards, with debit cards you get no fees

I see. There’s no reason why they would charge any fees for a debit transaction, mbway or the physi al card itself.

The issue is with credit cards where they try to charge for the transaction as a cash advance
