Hi,
I’ve paid with disposable cards at this particular online merchant countless times. But today this happened:
What gives? This is not a recurring payment. It’s a normal one-time online purchase. Why am I suddenly unable to use disposable cards with this merchant?
Thank you.

If you selected a box (it might be hidden somewhere), e.g. something along the line of “Save my card details for next time”, then it is a recurring payment per definition.
I did a small test at eMAG, and perhaps they save the card into your account.

Good point. I know about that option and never select it. But who knows, maybe this time it was selected by default and I didn’t notice. I will pay more attention to it next time.
Thank you!

I am glad to see that your issue has been resolved @VladSoare. Can you please remove the photo of your card details? This is a public forum and we always recommend not to share any kind of personal details here.
Welcome back to our community @HenRex. Thank you for the help.

Done.
I reckoned it was just the last four digits, and the card had been already terminated anyway. So no real risk. But you’re right, you never know.

Nope. It wasn’t that. This time I made sure the ‘save card’ box wasn’t ticked, and it still didn’t work. Besides, I’m now having the same issue with another merchant, with whom I’ve used disposable cards many times before.
So it must be something else.
I’m not sure if the restriction is on Revolut’s or the merchant’s side. Can the merchant even know that the card is disposable? This information should be completely transparent to them, shouldn’t it?

@VladSoare, Generally disposable cards shouldn’t be used for recurring payments (e.g. Subscriptions) or with Merchants that require a pre-authorisation transaction (e.g. Car Rentals or Hotels). Apart from that, you can use it in other online transactions as long as the merchants accept.

I know, but these are not recurring payments. They are plain purchases, there’s nothing special about them. And they used to work, with these very merchants.

This has started happening all the time now, with any merchant. I can simply not use disposable cards anymore. I get this error each and every time.
What gives?
