British Airways website doesn't recognize Revolut as a debit card

Hi,

I was trying to book a ticket on British Airways website with Revolut and couldn’t get the payment process to recognize the card as a “Mastercard debit card”. I had to finally choose the option “Mastercard”, which has a fee attached.

I thought Revolut was always recognized as a debit card, and I think it was indeed in many cases. But if you go to the FAQ, Revolut says it is a “prepaid card”. What’s the difference with a debit card?

To be 100 % correct, it is like this:

Card type: debit
Card level: prepaid

So it is a prepaid debit card.

Vendor insists Revolut Card is a Credit Card

From time to time a vendor will insist that a pre-paid card is a credit card because that is what their computer reports and will charge a fee for its use. I have had it happen with using both the Revolut Card and with the Post Office Money Card. Usually I then pay with a Visa Debit Card which is always OK or cash. Should I just use the card and hope Revolut can sort it out later? It would be useful if Revolut published guidance as to what to do when this happens.
