5.46 now requests additional permission on Android

Why was android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED added with version 5.46?

@AndreasK

I guess it’s because they want to improve broadcast.

https://developer.android.com/reference/android/Manifest.permission.html#RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED

Which broadcast and how would that be related to the permission?

I’d really hope to get a definitive answer from Revolut’s staff.

Hi Alessandro,

This is not something from our side, but Google’s new requirement.

Thanks Andreas, though could you please refer to a source as I would not be aware of any such requirement at all. Applications are not required to all start upon the system boot.

It is this one here: https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/129362589

but we will exclude this permission in the next release 5.47.

All right, so it got added because you added/updated WorkManager. Fair enough.

Thanks for the quick explanation.

To give credit where credit is due.

5.47 actually removed that permission request once again.

Thanks.
